What Type of Groom Should I Book for My Dog?

13 November 2023

Here at Paddington Pups, we offer 5 different types of grooms: Maintenance, Full, Style, Deshed and Puppy Cut.

Each groom with us includes a hydrobath, blow dry, paw pad trim and nail clip and host a variety of health benefits for your dog including maintenance of nails, hair and skin!

Maintenance

A maintenance groom is basically a ‘tidy up’ where the face, paws and hygiene areas are trimmed, taking no length off the body or legs. It’s a great in-between groom to keep up their coat health and used to being handles for haircuts!

Full Groom
A full groom consists of an all-over trim using the same length blade over the legs and body 13mm and under. It’s easy to maintain and requires less brushing between grooms!

Style Groom
Style grooms are for those who would like a longer fluffier look, breed-specific clip or a specific styled look (ie pom-poms, boots cut ect). A longer coat is achieved through the use of scissors rather than a blade length. Keep in mind that if you choose a longer length, you may need more regular visits to avoid any matting. You could try our maintenance groom between style grooms!

Strip-out/deshed
Deshedding is the process of removing hair from a dog’s undercoat. This service has the option of any additional trimming of the paws, back legs/bum area, tail, chest and tummy as desired. Ideal for double coated breeds such as collies.

Puppy Cut
A puppy cut is essentially an introduction to grooming, with the same elements as a maintenance groom (face, feet and hygiene areas). This groom is for puppies 4 months or younger, with our groomers taking their time to ensure their first experience with grooming is a positive one!

Grooming spots are by appointment only and are taken through our website under the ‘Grooming’ tab. Based on this information, you should hopefully be able to pick out what you’re after for your pup, however, if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to give us a call on 07 3369 0699!
